Description

Celebrated since 2015, the autumn Mec Poor or Big Bonfire Festival celebrates hospitality. Held in Sarukhan village in the Gegharkunik region, local community members prepare a large bonfire, or poor, to commemorate the potato harvest. A variety of more than 50 types of dishes are prepared, many roasted in the bonfire. The festival includes various competitions and games.

Consistent with its slogan – “Kyavar Village Hospitality” – festival pavilions are filled with homemade pakhlava, gata, pastry, honey, kyufta, fish, buckthorn juice, cheese and other dishes typical of the region.
