Celebrated since 2009, the Pan-Armenian Khorovats Festival is held in the village of Akhtala, in the Lori region, which is called “the Khorovats (barbecue) capital city” of Armenia. Cooks representing different restaurants, bars, and other organizations participate in the festival, serving up khorovats and participating in competitions. Festival goers can taste pork, beef, mutton, fish and vegetable barbeques, followed by the award ceremony for best flavor, best look and best concept.
