Entering its 3rd edition this year, the event is the collaborative work of the Ministry of Tourism with the Association of Shopping Centers Management of Indonesia (APPBI).
If last year the Kota Kasablanka Mall in the capital city of Jakarta was a host for the grand opening of WICSF 2017, this year the Grand Opening of WICSF 2018 will be at the Beachwalk Shopping Centeron fabulous Bali. After the opening, the festival will start simultaneously at numerous provinces including Jakarta, Riau, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, and more.
During the nationwide festival, top malls and popular shopping centers will definitely pamper visitors with a plethora of scrumptious culinary delights next to amazing shopping sensations offering huge discounts.
At the press conference held at the Sapta Pesona Building (Office of the Ministry of Tourism) on Tuesday, 18th September 2018, Tourism Minister, Arief Yahya revealed that WICSF has continuously achieved success as shown from the number of participating malls that has increased year by year. “Each year, the number of participating malls continues to grow.
In the Culinary field, Indonesia already has Soto declared as National Food by the Creative Economy Agency (BEKRAF). But, Indonesia has many more culinary favorites that are equally, if not even more popularly recognized as Indonesia’s National Foods, which are: Rendang, Nasi Goreng, Sate, and Gado-gado. In addition, the Ministry of Tourism has also decided upon three destinations to be developed as special Gastronomy Destinations that even now adhering to UNWTO standards. These are Bali, the Joglosemar (Jogjakarta–Solo–Semarang) area of Central Java, and Bandung in West Java.
