About Sapporo Snow
Each February Sapporo's Odori Park fills with enormous, intricately carved snow and ice sculptures — some the size of buildings — for one of Japan's most beloved winter events, drawing over two million visitors. Illuminated at night and set against the crisp Hokkaido cold, the sculptures range from anime characters to replica temples. There are ice slides, food stalls of piping-hot Hokkaido specialities, and projection shows. Combine it with the island's famous powder snow and hot springs for a perfect winter trip.
