About Notting Hill Carnival
Notting Hill Carnival is Europe's biggest street festival, filling west London over the August bank-holiday weekend with the sound, colour and food of the Caribbean, born from the city's Caribbean community in the 1960s. Steel bands, enormous sound systems, elaborate feathered costumes and the aroma of jerk chicken take over the streets, drawing around two million people. Sunday is the family-friendly children's day; Monday is the grand parade. It is a joyous, essential celebration of British-Caribbean culture — go with the flow of the crowd and stay hydrated.
“Europe's biggest street party — Caribbean London at full, joyful volume. Essential.”
