About Oktoberfest
The world's largest folk festival, Munich's Oktoberfest runs for about sixteen days from late September into early October and draws some six million visitors to the Theresienwiese fairground. Beneath vast, roaring beer tents run by the city's historic breweries, strangers link arms on the benches over litre steins, roast chicken and pretzels, in dirndls and lederhosen. Beyond the tents is a huge funfair of rides and stalls. Reserve a tent table well ahead, go on a weekday if you can, and pace the strong Märzen beer.
“Bigger and warmer than you expect. The tents feel like the whole world came to the same party.”
