About San Fermín
The San Fermín festival in Pamplona, immortalised by Hemingway, runs for nine days each July and is famous worldwide for the encierro — the daily running of the bulls, when the brave and the reckless sprint ahead of six fighting bulls through the old town's streets to the bullring. Beyond the dawn runs it is a round-the-clock fiesta of white-and-red clothing, wine, music and dancing. The running is genuinely dangerous and injuries are frequent. Whether you run or watch, wear the traditional white with a red sash and neckerchief.
